Current gospel songs carries no better message - Amy Newman

Veteran gospel singer, Amy Newman has registered her dismay about some lyrics used in most of the Ghanaian gospel songs in recent times.

According to her, most gospel songs these days does not have any better inspirational messages as compared to those of years ago for that matter she feels very glum.

“Sometimes get worried and confused about the kind of songs the new crop of gospel musicians put out. During our time, the likes of Mary Ghansah, Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Tagoe Sisters, Stella Dugan, Yaw Sarpong and the rest did songs that were inspiring.

The lyrics in the songs should have a positive impact on anyone who listens to it but it’s unfortunate that is not what we hear now, she said during an interview with Showbiz”, she said.

She stressed in an interview that the non secular music in recent times carries no better message.

The singer believes that the cause is that gospel musicians have no patience to wait upon God’s direction before releasing songs.

“I could pray in my room for two or three days for directions before I put ou a song. After that two-day prayer, any song I release was always inspiring and made a great impact”, she revealed.
