Actors and actresses think acting is an amusement park - Abeiku Sagoe claims

Veteran Ghanaian movie actor Abeiku Sagoe is of the view that some actors and actresses are into acting because of the fame is comes with it and not necessarily their passion.

According to him, the perception of certain industry players amount to why our movie has gone no where.

Speaking on Hitz FM's Day Break Hitz with ace broadcaster and disc jockey Andy Dosty.

"The movie industry has been like an amusement park if you don't have anything doing you walk in and take it up"

"Many young guys have seen me and all they say is, They want to be star" He noted

He, however said he once walked off set when he was told they don't use scripts.

"I got a call one day from a movie maker who wanted me to play a role in a movie. I would not have gone since he didn't give me prior notice but I went cause I had nothing doing"

"I got there and asked for script only to be told, they don't use it. So I left"
Commenting on why Malawian film makers who have no professional training like Ghanaians who have National Film And Television Institute (NAFTI) among others but self taught yet win all the prestigious movie awards in our continent.

The Board Secretary of the Audiovisual Rights Society of Ghana (ARSOG), Abeiku said

"I believe Malawians don't have such institutions but they've taken their time to learn the trade. There's no second rule to that we must learn the trade. Learning on the job"

He further added that he does not believe attending movie making school makes one the best.

"I personally don't subscribe to the notion that one has to go to NAFTI to practice If you must learn on the job."

He buttressed his point saying  "After seven years of medical training one goes to the hospital to learn from practising medical doctors before he's entrust with human beings"
